Vision for the toolkit from the MICHIGAN contributors

This toolkit is dedicated to parents, their children, caregivers, and families across Michigan who navigate pregnancy, birth, and early parenting while facing the challenges of substance use. Your courage, love for each other, and persistence inspire the work we do.

It is also dedicated to those who accompany families with compassion and dignity along all the pathways to recovery. We adapted this toolkit so that you would be better able to serve our community, whether you come from healthcare, family advocacy, harm reduction and/or abstinence-based recovery.

The Michigan collaborators and funders of this project were honored to build this resource so that every community in Michigan is supported in creating safer, healthier beginnings for all families. Together, we commit to reducing stigma and providing education so that pregnant people have the individual, community, and systems level support and knowledge they need to make fully informed decisions for themselves and their families.
